Chief of Army Staff General Tukur Buratai has revealed the secrets of the success of the Nigerian Army in the war against Boko Haram.

In a statement released by the Nigerian Army and acquired by NAIJ.com, Buratai was quoted by the Director Civil Military Affairs Brig Gen Gbemiga Adesina as saying that three things helped the Army in the swift defeat of the insurgents in the northeast.

The first, he said, is that the military has the backing of the media which has helped to publicise its activities. The second is the support given to the Army by the people of Nigeria who are always tipping off the military about the activities or movements of insurgents.

The final one is, he said, the avid determination of the Nigerian government that the war must be won, thereby providing all that is needed to make it a reality.

Buratai said all these while he was being conferred with the Distinguished Chief of Army Staff of the Decade award by the Coalition of Civil Societies and Media Executives for Good Governance, in Abuja.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has said that 8 suicide bombers blew themselves up at a military checkpoint in Gubio, Borno State on Tuesday, November 1.

The acting director army public relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman in a statement posted on Facebook said the suicide bombers came in a Bedford pick-up vehicle primed with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), including suicide vests.
