– The presidency is not helping matters by giving conflicting information on the president’s health status

A report by Leaders.ng has listed three inconsistencies of the presidency as regards the health status of President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Buhari has been in London since January 19. The presidency had first announced that he was there for a 10-day leave. But he has since extended the leave on medical grounds.

But many Nigerians had frowned at the conflicting information from the presidency as regards the president’s health status.

Afenifere chieftain and elder statesman, Ayo Adebanjo recently said the presidency is not sincere about the true state of President Buhari’s health, adding that those around the president were taking Nigerians for fools.

The report listed the presidency’s inconsistencies as:

1. President Buhari left Nigeria before the date given to the Senate

The president travelled on Thursday, January 19, the same day the letter was sent to the Senate. He met with service chiefs at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport at the end of which he asked the famous question: “What’s wrong with going on vacation? Didn’t I go last year at the same time?’’

The letter read: “I wish to inform the Distinguished Senate that I will be away on a short medical vacation from Monday, January, 23 to February 6th, 2017.″

2. He didn’t return on the day promised

Having travelled two days earlier than he promised, President Buhari also didn’t keep his word on his return.

”The medical check up he referred to in his letter of notification to the Senate sounded routine enough for him to have known when he was going to get his “test results” back,” the report said.

3. His ‘weak’ reason for extending his leave

The president extended his vacation indefinitely because according to him, he’d been advised by his doctors that he waits to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended to him.

However, after media aide Garba Shehu told Nigerians that the president was homesick and they should prepare to see him in flesh anytime soon – the presidency released a letter finally explaining the reason why he extended his leave. In this new letter, the explanation reads:

“During his normal annual checkup, tests showed he needed a longer period of rest, necessitating the President staying longer than originally planned,” the letter said.

Needing more rest is far different than waiting for test results from doctors.

The little inconsistent stories only further fuel the rumours about the dire nature of whatever his health conditions are.
