In Nigeria today, there is a belief that one should not depend on one source of income alone. This usually applies to those of us working 9-5 jobs and whatnot. But celebs have also taken this saying to heart. The names mentioned in this list have chosen agriculture as their side hustles.

1. Eedris Abdulkareem

Remember when Eedris Abdulkareem sang Nigeria Jaga Jaga? It seems the ‘Jaga-Jaganess’ did not reach his farm in Kano. The veteran rapper revealed recently that he has been in agriculture for more than a decade. “Since 2001, I have been fully engaged in agricultural activities and have investment in metals. I have a vast land in Kano, where I plant maize and other fruits for export. I have not really revealed this aspect of my life so as not to be distracted. People only see you as a musician and believe that is all you live on. ” he said.

2. Yinka Quadri

Veteran Yoruba actor Yinka Quadri also has his hands in poultry farming. In fact, he revealed that he has sunk over 7 Million Naira into his farm located in Ikorodu a suburb in Lagos state.

3. Halima Abubakar

Even though she is seen as a controversy magnet by some, actress Halima Abubakar is also a businesswoman with interests in agriculture. She has a farm in Kogi State where she sells poultry and other cash crops.

 4. Taiwo Hassan

Another veteran actor Taiwo ‘Ogogo’ Hassan has a different reason for venturing into farming. For him, it is about having another source of income.  The activities of pirates led to his decision. Also, since his parents were farmers, it makes sense that he joins the occupation too.

5. D’banj

Everyone knows about D’banj’s foray into agriculture. The Koko master made so much noise about his ‘Koko Garri’ that people began to wonder if we would ever see the product. It finally made its way to selected shops nationwide.  Asked why he ventured into agriculture in the first place, he said he ventured into full scale farming to help fight poverty and encourage many African youths to embrace agriculture as a means of livelihood.
